2.3L - can file limit of UD drives be increased?

My UD drives are being limited to 60 files and then comes back with disk full.

Is there a way to increase this?

Im going out on a limb and accessing my memory from when I ran a pirate Image 1.2 BBS in the early 90's.  I believe the UD is like the SB where each area is limited to 60 message threads and each UD section is limited to 60 files per section/board.  I remember having to setup a U/X to get around that, however U/X gives them full access to all files on that whole disk.

This is mentioned on page 29 of the Image v1.0 BBS manual.

Sorry for being so late to the party. Yes, the limit is 60, the reason for it is memory. The C64 as you all know only has 64k of memory so between swapping memory in and out to get things to run something has to suffer. In 2.0 it was a lot worse, I think max was 30.. Anything over 30 would give out of memory errors and would most of the time crash the BBS, it was worse in the subs, because not only were you loading in the directory list, but you would be loading in the posts with responses. Thus the reason a lot of times depending on the post you may only have 15 lines in the editor or 20 or whatever. It is an issue (not really an issue) that has plagued all the C64 BBS' you either give up speed in searching with REL files, OR you deal with limits. Not many remember the SEQ file subs, they were defintely brutal! It could take 4 minutes to get from the first post to response 60! Now it is instantaneous..

Like Shane said, toss them in a UX and there is no limit other then the directory of the drive, and with LTK's there really isn't a limit there!
