Happy New Year 2025!!
Each year it seems the plans I set forth to bring retro projects to 8-Bit Boyz is challenged with real life and it’s plan it has for us. I know we all go through this and some years more than others, but with that said I have been wanting to do a quick little update on what has been going on over here for the past year and well recently 
I figured why not do it old school and publish an update using “The Newsroom”. I also wanted to do the newsletter on real hardware with real floppies (oh the trials they can create) and a true print out on a dot matrix printer. So here it is, a January 2025 newsletter done on my Aldi Commodore Ultimate64, with a 1541-II disk drive that started to act up near the end of the project, and the whole thing printed out on a Commodore MPS-803 printer. I did scan in the printed newsletter and made it into a PDF you can view, save and even print it out while somewhat looking like it was printed on dot matrix and not a modern printer.
It’s not perfect as once I compiled the newsletter I could not go back and edit a lot of it due to the disk became corrupt from the 1541-II that needs service, but it worked well enough to create a newspaper! I hope it brings back some of the great fun reading publication you yourself might have read or created back in the 80’s using The Newsroom or something similar. I will try to do more of these as I feel the whole experience really brings me back and hopefully you as well. You can watch some of the printing in action here.
This whole process really makes one appreciate what they made these old 8-bit machines do back in the day.
