Here is yet another U64/Commodore64U bug found preventing another feature of Image BBS to not work. Here is my ticket to Gideon and hopefully there is a fix he will provide or a work around he can give us to correct this.
Any update/fix will be posted here for those tracking this.
Gideon Ticket:
Describe the bug
This is for Image BBS v3.0 using networking while SCPU is enabled. For Image to correctly connect to a network hub it has to disengauge SCPU and bring the machine back down to its true 1mhz. If this does not happen it will not connect correctly often and if it is able to connect to the network hub it will not xfer the data either up or down. For Image BBS and its Node HUB to correct this issue that has been proven to work 100% of the time over the years, the following will take place:
OR senario 2..
On the U64 & C64U we see Image is not able to completely turn off the SCPU via software.
Commodore 64 BBS -=[ commodore64bbs.com:6464 ]=- ....1st Commodore 64 Ultimate to run Image BBS 3.0!
The Kats Alley BBS -=[ tka.8bitboyz.com:6400 ]=- ....Running Image 3.0 for the C64

For Image BBS and its Node HUB to correct this issue that has been proven to work 100% of the time over the years, the following will take place:
- Image is going to call into the Node HUB to send new messages to the network. This is when Image goes into Network mode it will check if SCPU is on, if so it will turn off SCPU via software in the Image code, will perform its network maintinacne, connect to the hub, xfer data, hangup, finish cleanup of new network files and old, then turn SCPU back on and return to wait for call screen.
OR senario 2..
- Image recieves a call from the Node HUB that has new messages to deliver to Image. This will trigger Image into Network mode, it will check if SCPU is on, if so it will turn off SCPU via software in the Image code, will recieve transmission of new network files/messages, hangup, process new network files/messages, then turn SCPU back on and return to wait for call screen.

Update 4/26/2026
Technically, the SCPU poke statements do work with the U64/C64u, at least inside the BBS, I have been testing the Networking issue with the U64/C64u where transfers were hit or miss, and unbelievably so turning debug mode on in TCPSER solved this problem. What I have done with the TurboMode is now I am in the process of adding a new ltbar flag "C64" on I think page 3 or 4 which will test for U64 Turbo mode, and work exactly as the SCP ltbar flag worked except it uses the U64/C64u poke statements. It works quite well! I will be testing this over the next week on Commodore 64 BBS run by 8bitboyz to make sure it works fine. I will finish up the software changes today and get them installed hopefully by the 27th for full testing.
So this should be a bug that is fixed..
