Back after 30 years. Original BBS software which is likely one of the most flexible available for the C64. BBS software available for free including source code to others that want to run a bbs on it. BBS itself is generally the way it was when shut down 30 years ago... a bit of a time capsule.
MMN started in a basement of Brunswick Avenue (Toronto) in 1996, moved over to Bristol (UK) in 2002, finally landed in Paris (France) in 2013. The little BBS that has come along for the ride.
Online since 1988. Running DOS BBS software hosting vintage DOS doors and ANSI. Also available via dial-up 1-502-875-8938.
MorningSide Mortuary is free. I run it as a hobby. The major focus of the BBS is MajorMUD. I have 256 nodes, so there is plenty of room for everyone. Everybody gets unlimited time. The BBS is up 24/7. Aloha from Hawaii!
A heavily modified version of C-Net 128 with some DS2 v3 ML for added functionality - very much a test platform.
This is basically the bones of the BBS my mom used to run many many years ago, and while she still calls from time to time, I pretty much use it as a test bed for the C-Net 128 version of HVI-Mods.
Set your terminal for black background, 80×25, and UTF-8.
– Mystic Dungeon doorgame: The main attraction, my own roguelike RPG.
– Additional doorgames going in as I write them or adapt them.
– Message boards will be focused on game development and tabletop RPGs; mainly supporting my own, but others are welcome.
– As the name suggests, running on Mystic, themed for my old Atari BBS, The Dungeon, from the ’80s & early ’90s.
– Patreon memberships are available, but there will never be pay-to-win.
This BBS Software is a treasure from the 1980's, Pyroto Mountain. Climb a mystical mountain filled with lore, trivia and community. Attempt to get to the top and claim as the top Wizard. There are many secrets on this mountain however that will make the journey difficult.
A custom BBS written from scratch that dynamically supports both Atari 8bit ATASCII and ANSI connections.
*BBS is currently down as of July 2024*
Areas for Amiga, PC, Atari and many others.
Dedicated Windows server running Mystic bbs from back in the early 2000s after being converted from Telegard 3.01ml. Alot of original graphics and some updated from local ansi artist in the scene. It still runs a dialup line using one the original modems from back in its dialup days. Been online since late 1988.
Updated 7-8-2024: Now operating extended hours, 7.30pm to 6am
The Night Owl BBS operates in the evenings (GMT 7.30-6am), running over a little out-with these times quite frequently. As it is a 38 year old Host computer it cannot run 24/7 without risk of disaster at some point. A Viewdata / Videotex BBS from the UK which runs on original Acorn hardware. The board offers 3 Message Boards; Sysop Chat & Blog; a Viewdata Art Portrait Gallery and a Classical Composers Gallery; a Retro YouTube channel section; Interview section; a profile and history section of the most popular 1980’s 8 bit machines, a Teletext database of news and trivia from the UK (1981-84) called BEEBFAX) and a fun adventure game. There are nearly 800 pages of info on the BBS. A Viewdata / Videotex client is needed to access the graphic capabilities of the BBS. Vintage home computer systems will need a suitable client program that was capable of accessing services like Prestel and Compunet in the 1980’s. There are many client programs still around for these machines. Apple 2, C64, ZX Spectrum, Amiga and all Acorn systems all have their own still available.
Modern PC/Mac/Linux client programs are also available on Github, for example

This is a real departure from the usual Atari BBS and contains great features especially in the message bases with find and replace editing, “what” feature for reading reply source message and grouping, database improvements for stability, and low maintenance.
