Hardware Details

The BBS runs on Mac Pro (Mid-2012) hardware, but from within a Linux VM. While it is primarily an ANSI BBS with loads of ANSI experiments, it has also been adding support for the Atari ST with IGS and VT-52 login sequences.

Guardian of Forever is home to lots of interesting ANSI demos and experiments by Kirkman (Josh Renaud):

* “Jewel Mountain” (ANSI tilemap demo)
* “Jewel Mountain” (parallax scrolling ANSI demo)
* “Under the Sea” (parallax scrolling ANSImation for Mistigris)
* Millennium Falcon dodging asteroids (parallax scrolling ANSImation for Blocktronics)
* “The Trouble with the Rangifer Tarandus” (Star Trek-themed animation)

Besides those, GoF also hosts a number of unique doors such as “Bracket Browse” for the NCAA Tournament; demos created in the unique “Instant Graphics and Sound” format for the Atari ST including a “Calvin and Hobbes” animation; a custom VT-52 login sequence for Atari ST callers; and more.
