Day 1&2

Well ...all files from original disk images of image have been installed on my CMD HD clone which from here on out I will lovingly refer to as my CMD HD (one can dream)....after I set up all the partitions on and the FCOPY+’d everything to the appropriate partition. I did fire up Image just to see if it worked and it did but stopped as I ran out of time.

I was going to put the games disk 2 and the March update onto the drive but it looks like I need to actually configure the BBS before I do the updates....regardless I have real 800k disks with the images on now.....

I am also going to hookup an mps-803 to the c128dcr to print any reference stuff I need ....have to find a long serial cable.....

oh and I read all the forum posts today....

Last but not least the Link 232 WIFI cartridge is in the back of the c128dcr now........did I  mention the 128 and all drives attached to it (CMD HD, 1571 (internal), 1581, FD-4000 clone) all have jiffydos and the u36 slot has a Keydos ROM

@sutehk I figured the corporate monster called you away to slay other projects.

I was able to get the WiFi232 Swiftlink cartridge to see my network from the C-128 DCR.

So I added the port routing in my router to send 6400 traffic to the 232 link WiFi. This will make the access  through my dynamic DNS provider possible  and differentiate the traffic from the contiki BBS I'll also be running simultaneously.

Great!! I have so many port forwards it is sad.. If I may make a suggestion.. In your Port Forwarding menu in the name of the forward add in the Port number makes it easier looking for it in the future if you need to edit it. When you have any many as I do (currently around 20 or so) it is sometimes hard to find the exact one you need if you need to edit it.. AND either take pictures of your forwards or write them down, I am going to put mine in a spreadsheet which I have with all of the IP addresses of everything in my house. Reason? My cable company must have recently sent out an update which reset my router to factory specs.. Guess what? All of my forwards were gone! It took me 2 weeks to figure out all of them. I was disconnected from a couple of networks because I forgot to open up the ports for my FTN style networks! Jeez..

@bucko that’s why I buy mine own router and modems. The cable company do anything but send a restart signal to the modem and have no access to the router. I don’t trust the cable companies. But it’s still a good idea to start tracking the IP addresses and port forwards. Thanks for the suggestion!

@bucko I like your taking a picture approach. I have been doing screen captures of my port forwards for the past few years, like you I'm way over 20+ forwards for BBS, Plex, multiple Minecraft servers, VPN, etc, etc..  Im a dealer for the past 21 years for our cable company so I get my modem swapped out sometimes a couple times a year.  I like you learned the hard way. hehehe

I use to just configure the modem as a gateway and have my own router control everything so I would not have to redo port forwards when something changed on the modem, but over time I got tired of the multi layers of networking to the internet and some of the DocSys 3 modems did not play well for a while on that setup. So I am back at the mercy of the Cablemodem, but our cable company knows me well and they ask now before anything changes from the headend or a parts replacement on my modem.

I still do screen shots of the ports and also use the built in modem SAVE SETTINGS to save a config file.

Oh the problems we have this day and age, remember when we had multiple phone lines and modems to do things.  Or when some (i was one) would double double barrel modems (2 modems, 2 phone lines) to double your transmission speeds. LOL  They still do that with DSL from the phone companies to speed up DSL. 🤣

I have actually built a spread sheet which holds all of my IP addresses of all the wired devices including my Virtual devices, the reason? My cable company took away my ability to save IP addresses for each device through the router.  So now whenever I have a new device I assign it a IP address and add it to my Spread Sheet.. The sad part to all this is I have a brand new Netgear Router sitting in a bag here waiting for me to install it! LOL I am just to lazy..
