In the RELEDIT section when making S and U and X a choice in the configuration is Scrns which brings up the editor, what exactly does that do? Can the editor bring up graphics files to display when a board is chosen? If so what format?
Thanks.

It allows you to have entry screens into each SB UD and UX. Back in the day I used to create a screen for each Local Sub welcoming the user to the sub and stating the name of it and asking if anyone wanted to be a subop. I used to get a lot of apps for that, but today, Subops are never gonna be found as the user base is just to small..

Funny you say that....I've been trying to recruit sobs to moderate sb's on topics I know they are interested in hoping to avoid boredom they'll have their friends join the BBS so they have something to moderate.

The last 1/2 of that statement is sooo true. Not to mention anyone who does subop will fade away and be less active over time due to the lack of activity. These days a BBS is a lot like Jurassic Park. At first it is fun and exciting but before you know people are screaming, yelling and crying about something then they run away.
Though this was also the case back in the day but back then for everyone person like that you had at least 20-30 other who were regular and active daily.
Sigh.. times have changed. Most every user that is a regular on any BBS anymore is a sysop on another BBS LOL. "Users" are almost like a unicorn now.
Okay I will get off my soap box! 😉

It's very hard today to find sub-ops.. My suggestion is just place ads for your BBS on the networks and hope that people call.. I look at my Image board last 10 callers over the past 2 weeks and I have had only myself and X-Tec call in, but a few weeks back I had 10 different names.. Callers come in spurts, only thing you can do with the subs is keep them lively by posting interesting conversations and keep at them.. I suck at that as I don't visit my Image subs but once a week.. My PC board shares it's message base with all of the rest of my PC/Amiga/Linux boards so it's easy to keep things going by visiting 1 board and responding to any messages there..

I agree with you to an extent, there are regular users today, they are few and far between though. Most are re-living their youth calling out to BBS' others like me are former sysOp's who got the bug again and now that everything is free can do things I always wanted to do back then but couldn't afford it, like having a 20 line BBS, or run 5 different BBS softwares 3 of them plus a Game Server on 1 computer..
