[Solved] 2.3L "On a Stick" - First post to SB fails

Called into my freshly christened BBS build and tried to post to SIG 1, Sub 1 as the first post.

System hangs - waited for about five minutes before calling no-joy. Attached is a snapshot of the local screen during the lock-up. L and M values are not changing. After which, I hit return a few times and got an error (attached).

Any ideas? Also, are there easy steps to incorporate Jiffy-Dos into the Lt Kernal? I own the C64 kernal part of it. It seems a little slow in calling up SEQ files.

Error after hitting several carriage returns:

2 things, make sure in IM (sysop maint) that in misc items A Lt Kernal device number is set to 8. Then screenshot me your sub config of this sub. I have a feeling the sub is not configured right, make sure you have the device as 8 and drive as whatever you want to put your messages on, I choose 3 for subs and 4 for ud's.. As for JiffyDOS it is not compatible with the Lt Kernal...

Additional note: tried again via local window.

- Select SB

- Select Sub 1

- Post

System started allowing me to immediately type (no prompt to do so) and it started flowing into the bottom of the status screen of the local window. After about 40 chars or so it burped an undefined statement error in 5 (sb.post)

it sounds to me like a config issue.. If you can grab me a screen shot of the config screen that would be great.. Either that or if you want I can login tonight and take a look at the config while you are there..

Lt. Kernal Device was set to 0. Corrected. Same observation (didn't restart though).
Restarted BBS, verified Device was still set (yup).

Went to post and saw same observation MM.sb-post, line 5 - all stop.

Here is the configuration:

I noticed in snapshot below my subs were set for Device 0, Drive 0.

Modified to Device 8, Drive 3

SUCCESS!

LOL I knew it was a config issue... 😉 NOW!!! Go through each option in IM and config every item.. Make sure everything in the misc menu is filled out the timezone the BBS identifier etc..  Don't worry about the network stuff as that will only be used if you want to join the network. Do everything else though, the alarms you don't have to worry about either.. Get all that done and when you want to get even more deeply into it, we can do some other things...

One more thing. On YouTube google Larry Hedman, he has a ton of videos on how to set things up... You won't go wrong with them...

And here I thought I did so good following the manual. GRR..... sorry ;-(

Will check out the video series! Thanks. I gotta say, this by far was the easiest Image setup I've done (I've done like 5 attempts previously)
